About Emmett

Emmett Van Leer is a jazz pianist from Barrington, Rhode Island. Currently studying with Helen Sung and Edward Simon at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Emmett draws influence from pianists such as Andrew Hill, Thelonious Monk, and Cecil Taylor. Emmett has performed in small groups with musicians such as Regina Carter, Ulysses Owens Jr., Warren Wolf, and Leland Baker. He is the founder and creative director of Manning Street Music Festival, an annual arts and music event held in Barrington, Rhode Island.
